This was a great movie however I felt like it could be the beginning of a series in the likes of United States of Tara or The Sopranos. The flow of the movie while good, did lend itself to feel more as a series than a complete movie, however the story in itself does have resolution.
What can I say? There is lots of dysfunction, humor, and especially experimentation all set in the 60's.
Character-wise, at the head of the family is a sociopathic, ex-army dad who has to always be the center of attention, the seemingly vegetative alcoholic resigned wife, and the three daughters each having a very interesting dynamic to the father. One plain despises him, and I felt she was more of a representation of what the mother could have turned into had she still had her resolve and mind; the other was the brains, and lastly was the 'innocent' and beautiful daughter. Great mix of characters. Highly entertaining
and I feel more movies should draw on character devlopment rather than special effects with no plot.
