Respectfully, your argument is an often used over-simplification of the issue. Much the way the price of a gallon of gasoline doesn't reflect the true price of using that gasoline on the environment, gauging the health of "organic" foods based solely on their nourishing effect on a human body does not look at the larger picture.For example, when cows are pasture-raised, grass fed, not only are they leaner and more flavorful, but their fat is less saturated, more of the healthier fat. Cows are intolerant of grain -- which is how they are fed in industrialized feed-lots. Anti-biotics have to be given, and the fat becomes saturated and unhealthy... Plus the amount of greenhouse gasses from such feed-lots increases dramatically.Rotation of crops makes for healthier soil with less reliant on pesticides (which not only kill bad bugs, but good ones as well).World hunger should be treated on a local level, with local farmers learning how to cultivate their land without relying on external inputs that can cause harm.With large agri-business, we are very quickly breeding out much of the variety in agriculture, and with less variety, we open ourselves up to more crop disease and spread of such things like national salmonella outbreaks. We know as a human species, that the vast variety of our genes has enabled us to adapt and grow into the relatively healthy species we are...Unfortunately, the opposite is now happening with our food. Lastly, one big problem with the word "organic," is that is has become a commercial selling tool. It's actually quite expensive for a small farm to be certified "organic," and thus the term tends to be used -- quite ironically -- by large companies with large enough means to be certified. In truth, most small, local farms use organic practices but are not certified due to the huge expense of being so.Anyway, it's a good topic to keep talking about.

As much as I enjoy both food culture and PBS I have to comment on the dogmatic presentation were being given here. Year after year the USDA reports that organic products are no healthier than conventional products. Furthermore, organic farming is not more sustainable than conventional production by any means. Lastly, if you support organic farming you support companies, interest groups, and legislation that seek to inhibit forward progress in technology that could cure world hunger.You're not supporting anything with any scientific backbone when you support organic. You're supporting a marketing ploy to sell more product. Just like anybody else.
