From the educational film era opening credits and theme, to the maudlin lights-out, curtain-drawn closing scene, and the frank yet generously observant interviews in between, this deliberately stylized documentary is a nearly perfect tribute to the great Z-movie maker Ed Wood, Jr. It has fun with the people being interviewed without ever making fun of them. The carefully contrived sets, George Hurrell-era backdrop lighting and costuming for each person interviewed was delightful. "The Haunted World of Edward D. Wood, Jr." is a labor of love and reveals a genuine affinity for the subject. A treat for any genuine fan who embraces, without reservation or judgment, the eccentricities, foibles and quirks of those who pursue their muse without regard to whatever they may lack in acceptance, talent or money.
