I have watched all of the Spaced series many times. I love film but for the most part I hate television. There have been a handful of TV shows that reached the upper echelon of entertainment, X-Files, Gillians Island, Friends, M*A*S*H*, South Park, Monty Python's Flying Circus and Spaced.
I have thought about it quite a lot. I wouldn't be comfortable giving this review had I not put some thought into it. This is definitely my favorite episode of Spaced. I love each and every episode and they all have their reasons for being outstanding but this one defines the entire series. We see the true friendship between Daisy and Tim in this episode in a way that isn't present in any other. And the first shootout scene between Mike, Brian and Tim is epic television success. It is one of those scenes that people will talk about for years and years.
I don't want to give away spoilers so I will keep it brief. I am American, about the same age as the actors here are now, Simon is 7 months older than me. I had a great time growing up here in America, we had Friends as far as TV went and it did bring many aspects to light that we dealt with. But Spaced kind of makes me wish I had lived in London back in these times. It just looks so innocent and like so much fun. The whole world is a different place now than it was then and watching shows like Spaced and Friends brings back a better day. I want to personally thank Simon, Jessica and Edgar and the rest of the cast and crew for bringing joy into my life. Even though we are from an ocean apart, I totally connect with all of this.
Once again, I did buy the DVD, it's just easier to watch online and I have a 22" widescreen PC, and I suggest to any Americans who love this to pick it up. There are commentaries from Matt Stone and Kevin Smith among others. I'm glad you guys put it on here for free, but I am also glad I bought the DVD.
Can't wait for Paul.
