simply cannot even touch. Of course, this is real while L&O is a drama so it goes without saying. However, when I watch this program I am moved by the grief that the victim and their families go through, and I have cried during each episodes. I have been a fan of L&O for years- I have seen hundreds of episodes, which is why I wanted to watch this show. I felt I might be disappointed because it would not have the twists and drama of Criminal Intent (and no Vincent Dinoffrio LOL) but I was wrong.
This show is straight forward in that you don't have a sudden twist towards the end that changes everything and the accused is suddenly proven innocent like in courtroom dramas. It shows the process of a prosecution's case. We see it through the DA office POV. Some people have criticized this, but it is the intention of the show, so I don't see a problem. I really like it, and I think anyone who enjoys TV crime dramas as well as true crime documentaries would like it as well.
As far as the Vasquez case goes, I was appalled when the defense lawyer put the blame on the victim's sister in his closing statements. She was talking to her own husband, and she had a right to tell her husband about something that bothered her. Notice the defense attorney placed no culpability on her husband (his client's brother), who passed his wife's statements on to this murderer. If the sister was supposed to "keep her mouth shut" to prevent the tragedy, then what about her husband? The defendant and his brother are thugs, and they behave and think as thugs- the victim's sister was not responsible for how these men handle the minor (yes it was ) problems that come up in life. He stabbed the mother of his child over some stupid high school type drama.
