I don't think so. I am happy to see there are some people who don't feel that way. This show is a fabulous idea. It is great to see so many people of color in one show and all of them terrific actors. I love Mr. Lumbly's work and the fact that Sam Raimi cast him says alot about Sam Raimi as a director/producer. Lumbly has presence and quiet strength as an actor: those are his traits. We don't often see him in mainstream stuff and it is a shame.And Gina Torres is fabulous as well. I always like her work.I wonder if those same people who think this show is racist, find Tyler Perry more acceptable. I know I don't. Or, would you rather just have the whole cast be white and feel more comfortable about yourselves?I know I wouldn't. This is a multi-racial, multi-cultural country, but you wouldn't know that from watching mainstream, network television. So thank goodness that this show is here. Not to mention the fact that he's playing someone with a disability who becomes a superhero.....there's a lot going on that is good about this show. Don't waste your time with the negative comments and reviews. Of course, if you are not comfortable seeing so many people of color in one show....that's different and that's on you.

Who today would write such a script? Are you trying to bring back bad feelings between the races? This type of bigotry was outdated long ago! Hey, we got white heroes and black heroes. I don't hear anybody complaining loudly enough when the whites are not represented equally in the cast. It's ok to have a black hero sure why not?! But how come the only actors in here who are white are old and bigots? We got whites in gangs too. We got spanish in gangs too. So you want all the credit? You blacks are the gangs and the heroes? Its your world? US Census says the Asians are first due to most babies and family is stronger. Next comes Spanish who marry young and have more children than the blacks and whites. So you better hurry up and try to end race wars now because soon there won't be any of us, you fools. This is very offensive show but I love sci fi so I will enjoy it just for the content and plot. But you know, even the woman doctor her behaivior is annoying and glad she's not my gf that poor guy, he really will die young from her lack of loving nature, stress to his heart! Why don't all of you learn how to act and respect humans all as equals? Are you just arrogant? There is always somebody else who can be better when you distract yourself with vanity.

I got through the first 10 minutes of episode one and it didn't seem to be about a Superhero who happened to be black, but more about setting up straw-man stereotyping bigots trying to incite white guilt. If they'd have just had the MANTIS kick criminal butts rather then try to be an NPR educational show it would have been better.
