I don't think so. I am happy to see there are some people who don't feel that way. This show is a fabulous idea. It is great to see so many people of color in one show and all of them terrific actors. I love Mr. Lumbly's work and the fact that Sam Raimi cast him says alot about Sam Raimi as a director/producer. Lumbly has presence and quiet strength as an actor: those are his traits. We don't often see him in mainstream stuff and it is a shame.
And Gina Torres is fabulous as well. I always like her work.
I wonder if those same people who think this show is racist, find Tyler Perry more acceptable. I know I don't.
Or, would you rather just have the whole cast be white and feel more comfortable about yourselves?
I know I wouldn't. This is a multi-racial, multi-cultural country, but you wouldn't know that from watching mainstream, network television. So thank goodness that this show is here. Not to mention the fact that he's playing someone with a disability who becomes a superhero.....there's a lot going on that is good about this show. Don't waste your time with the negative comments and reviews. Of course, if you are not comfortable seeing so many people of color in one show....that's different and that's on you.
