Watching this episode brought back scenes from my younger years when my first husband used his fists to make points, first breaking my nose, later ribs, and at one point waking me from a sound sleep with his hands around my throat, choking me.
There is nothing more degrading, terrifying, humiliating than domestic violence. You're afraid to tell because he'll just beat you more. You're afraid to leave because you know he'll follow you and kill you. The only way I got away from my first husband was to put the entire country between us. I left with one tiny suitcase on a borrowed bus ticket and hid away for years until I learned he had married another poor woman. He was married 5 times in all, and two of his wives died while with him. I've always wondered exactly what happened to them...
It was delighted to see the look on Villa's face when the judge used the full weight of "three strikes" to lock him up and throw away the key. LOVED it. I thought my husband was a bad guy. Villa was terrifying. Just looking at his arrogant face, laughing and joking with his scumbag lawyer, was enough to make my blood boil. I'm hoping she can get this behind her.
