I saw An Education at Sundance.
The trailer does a decent job at setting the story although it only hints at the depth of the plot. Smart, talented teenager in 1950s England is being pushed to continue her education at Oxford by her parents and teachers. Even though a great success at school, she finds it all too boring and is awakened by the attention of an older suitor. She has to make a choice between a strict, book-based education at Oxford or the eye-opening, worldly education that awaits her if she chooses to enter the fast-paced lifestyle entertained by her older man.
It's a very well done period piece with engaging conversation, intriguing - albeit somewhat stereotypical - characters, and a superb "girl awakening into woman" performance by the lead actress Carey Mulligan.
If you like period pieces or character development in a film, I would rate it a must see. Not an action/thriller and no strong plot surprises, but it doesn't pretend to be that type of movie.
