I read once where the rule about purchasing near the freeway is that you have to be at least 100 yards (football field) to not get bits of rubber (from tires) pollution in the air, as well as diesel fumes etc. wafting over. Rubber deposits itself in a soot of black dust in a house. The noise alone would put me off, and I can smell cars from 300 yards away, depending on how the wind is blowing. I once looked at a condo above a parking garage. It smelled like a gas chamber. Aptly,, the realtor didn't notice it at all. I'd rather live in a trailer in a nice quiet place, than the Taj Mahal backing onto a freeway or near auto fumes.
