You talk as if corporations are inherently evil. They are not, my friend. But there are evil people that are steering the government's, and by implication the nation's, direction. destroying the Dollar. Japan has now pulled out from investing in the dollar, and that is only the last straw. These people have turned the U.S. into the largest debtor nation in the world. WE send boys and girls overseas to start senseless wars, for sheer profit. If you want to point a finger at the evil, it is the cartel that owns the Federal Reserve, a central bank that LENDS MONEY TO THE GOVERNMENT, AT INTEREST! This is something that Jefferson and his contemporaries saved us from. The U.S was founded to get away from this stranglehold, and here we are having our property (Fed Income Taxes) extorted from us, to SUPPORT this very thing. It's a protection racket and the hit men are the IRS. There's the evil that is destroying the country.
I'd give it 2 more months or so, we will suffer an economic collapse of Biblical proportions. Yes, Wall Street is filled with greedy, self-serving crooks who were not sent to jail as the should have been, but were rewarded, by GWB first, then by the guy who I assume is your hero, Obama. Tell me, out of all of Obama's campaign promises, which ones has he kept? Broken? Why do you still worship him?
The collapse of the U.S. won't be the fault of "conservative, pro-corporate politicians", or corporations. These bailouts are just a redistribution of wealth. Stealing from me and you, and giving that money to people who don't deserve it. There is no more clear example of socialism than that, although fascism is more technically correct.

This is just sheer nonsense, and you need to be called on it. Corporations these days don't engage in much productivity, it's true, but consider the taxes and regulations that tie an entrepreneur's hands in the present time here. Have you ever tried starting a company? Where?
What about steel manufacturers, farms, automobile builders? Do they "work as little as possible"? Are you talking about the people who found corporations, or employee/owners, or are you lumping these together as well?
How about you sir, do you work as little as possible, and for money?

I can understand those concerns, but I don't think there's any kind of libertarian or ultraconservative bias, especially among outfits like Google or Virgin Galactic.Most of these people just seem like more daring entrepreneurs who want to take a direct involvement in progress. That's not to say that there won't be episodes of corporate incompetence which makes the Soviet space program, which cost the loss of 200 lives, look downright competent.There's more than enough regulation to keep the field safe enough while letting it stay fertile while NASA's territory leaves Earth orbit and even the Moon for more Martian pastures.   See 3 other replies
