Animation - high above par.
Story - Original.
Execution - Great.Too many people are worried about finality now-a-days. Remember when a story would leave you hanging? I loved those.. It let you make up your own conclusions. I just liked the fact that she finds out; enough from me.Whether or not the KITE series even interacted, I though it was enjoyable (..and I did like the alluding to the previous).I think the look is very classic. It showed good control in not taking any element too far (with all the options for newer tech to make Incredible graphics). Now, were other Anime better? GITS, Akira and, HELL, even Armitage the 3rd.. Sure. They were also full fledged movies, Leaders in the genre AND were Very Original in story lines. But there are people that, very attached to even MORE classic Anime (Fist of the North Star, Ninja Scrolls, etcetera..), would say GITS, Akira and such were too over done.Blah (meh, now-a-days), long story short, i enjoyed it.

If I had not watched the original Kite and Mezzo Forte I would have thought this movie to have 100% sucked. However, it will still need the sequel to make it ok. I'm expecting 1/3 of it to be the back story we need and the rest mixed action and tragic moments. Then again, it's gonna take some work from Yasuomi Umetsu to make me ok with the bone people from space.

It had such a ridiculous, half-explained premise that I couldn't suspend my disbelief. It was very difficult to watch the entire thing, even though I was partially distracted by drawing most of the time. I ended up just listening to most of it because of how bored I got.The animation was acceptable.With all the other great animes out there, this one doesn't even compare. Shows like Ghost in the Shell are in a whole other league. Even silly OVAs like Freedom leave KITE: Liberator in the dust.

Other reviews claim it's the first of a two part OVA, so that makes the abrupt ending seem less bad, but it's still quite annoying.Overall the story and characters were okay, but the lip synching was absolutely horrible; the voice actors were alright, but this was synching I'd expect from hastly dubbed '70s and '80s anime, not the stuff we get today.

I really like this starting off. It was played out more as a series than a movie. I hope there is more, so many answers left unanswered. What happens NEXT?????
