I think it's because they didn't want to do the same episode as the other Fullmetal series, I don't mind but yea it was changed I believe.

I think the animation is really fantastic on this show. I haven't seen such fluid motion since maybe some of the good fight scenes in Soul Eater (really, really good fight scenes in that show, if you havent seen it. Good show, too, but short). The scenes in the forest and in the flashbacks were miles above usual anime animation (god it makes the Naruto fillers look like still frames), and the fight with Teacher was so eye-catching, I kept forgetting to read the subs! It's great to see they're pulling out all the stops with this show.
