Friends, I loved this show as a kid. I cant remember how old I was the first time I saw it. I think for me, Ultraman came first when I was about 5. Jonny and the Robot came a few years later. For me these were never a Saturday show, they
were Monday-Friday, before school while munching COCOA PUFFS, and chugging chocolate milk (usually Nestles QUICK), and also after school. I seem to remember seeing them on Channel 30, KDNL TV (an independent). I may be wrong on that. I was born in 1966 if that gives you some idea of my time-frame here.
Now, since no one else has stated it that I can see, allow me to be the bearer of bad news. The actor who played our hero, Mitsunobu Kaneko died in 1997. Considering the IMDB has this show listed as being in production in 1967, he couldn't have been past 45 years old at the time of his death. I'd say 43-45. Moment of silence please.
I've just watched 2 episodes. Both listed as season 1, episode 1, but it's obvious which one is the real first episode. The one I REALLY want to see is the one with the vampires chasing Jerry around the temple while Jonny goes for help. For me as a kid, that was INTENSE!!!! And the smoking and gun-play that I've seen in these episodes would never make it today. Set your kids down and share it with them!!! If you don't have kids... BORROW one or two!!! No kidnapping!!! A true fan of Unicorn agent 7 would NEVER do that!!
