And that's what I liked about this episode.
He saved the girl, but at the cost of supporting a vile system, and yet... that's pretty much how things work in the world. Nothing is ever without cost or consequence. There are compromises and unpleasant truths for everyone.
I can't say it's "good" to see a show that acknowledges this, because in an ideal world, everyone would do the right thing. But it's refreshing to NOT have an easy answer in 45 minutes. It's thought-provoking to have a show that confronts the give and take that exists, and that admits everything is sunshine and puppies and Christmas.
I'm glad I gave this episode a try after the boredom of the pilot. I'll likely keep watching, too.
