a navy helicopter did an aerial search in one episode. this one patrol boat reports to higher authority which in turn reports to the naval command in Canberra. it would be difficult and expensive to make a TV series about a battle group. patrol boats do a lot of independent steaming, so it doesn't seem like the 45-ship navy and the fleet air arm are ignored to me.
