Great acting and writing, if it was an American (thank god it's not) show the writers probably would create
scenes full of boom, bang, let's blow something up every episode . I'll keep watching, hope to see more seasons posted.

The US Coast Guard utilises the 25MM Bushmaster, usually a dual turret, it has a faster rate of fire, and with penetrator or HE rounds it can offer the same destructive power. See 7 other replies

well the U.S. Coast Guard is usually who patrols the American Coast. The Navy tends to do more blue-ocean operations. Plus a 40/60 is incredibly powerful if you ship isn't armored. See 7 other replies

The CO referred to it as "40/60". In the USN that would indicate a 40 mm rifle of 60 caliber. This weapon would do an unbelievable amount of damage to any ship. The 50 caliber should have been more then enough but would have taken longer.

An RPG could have been nasty but anti-tank weapons would likely pass through since there is no armer in this class vessel. In any case they could have simply pulled back and sank it with little danger to themselves.

It's a 40mm bofors autocannon, and the Fremantle class also mounts a pair of 12.7mm machine guns. Light, but still enough to put serious holes into a fiberglass hull. Carrying an assault rifle in class quarters where any combat would be hand to hand is not too smart-- a pistol or club is likely to bear more quickly and incapacitate an enemy without killing all your mates next to him.
