Why do you guys bother debating this guy? You do know there's at least a 50/50 chance he doesn't believe this himself and he just gets off on trolling, right?And so what if he does believe this? Yes, it's idiotic, but does his belief hurt you? I'm an atheist, and I know that the whole 2012 thing is crap, just like I know ghosts don't exist, neither does God, nor Santa Claus or the tooth fairy. Really now, every sane person knows that the only one that's real is the Easter Bunny.And he's SO not a christian! They just co-opted his image and told the world he stood for something else. (It's the same thing they did when they chose the dates for their big holidays! Winter solstice/Christmas, anyone?)Did you know the Easter Bunny is really a Rasta? Damnedest thing... Where was I? I hope it does happen just because I like Mayan culture and they were very sophisticated however.. Just because their calender stops doesn't actually mean it's the end of the world, I think it's completely over-rated and I don't think many people honestly believe it's going to happen because in the last 20 years there have been like 5 dooms dates for the "end of the world" and I am still sitting here writing so obviously none have come true.. But again I would like for something to happen, whether it's an eclipse or an earthquake.. I want something interesting to happen.   See 6 other replies

I saw something about deep caves with seed vaults but that isn't really anything super crazy, I'm sure somethings going to happen so deal with it. It's just a part of life and earth, if a huge massive thing was going to occur then good that the government is somewhat prepared for it! I wouldn't expect to be invited into it as shouldn't most people. If we have an ice age again in the next 100-1000 years then a good chunk of the population will die.. Or be relocated to the southern hemisphere or something. Wish I could be alive for that long just to see it, seems interesting.   See 9 other replies

Should we believe in the "prophecies" of Nostradamus as many still do? The world did not end in 1999... OR DID IT? (Insert spooky theremin music here.) The fact is, the 2012 prophecies have nothing to do with the world ending. Read up on the subject, study a little Mayan history, study a little HISTORY at all for Christ's sake. Study the folks over the past few centuries who have said the world would end <here>, and study how all of these predictions have not come to pass. I think some folks just need to believe something... even any random end-of-the-world scenario (somehow inevitably linking it to their own Revelations-based ideas about the world) with a manic excitement that borders on pathological. Never mind history, never mind logic. Never mind that we're still here despite our best efforts. Never mind reality. Just do like the media... make up whatever story you want and stick with that.   See 10 other replies
