This is my all time FAVORITE episode. They packed so many different stories and situations into one short episode. It's hard to believe it was only 47 minutes long. From "The Spelling Bee", with the geeks' pissed off father, to the boxing match and Mason's smooth foot work, and Ray's final demise at the hands of Mason. Loved Nina's character.."My Bonnie lies over the ocean..." That whole story line was awsome and really funny, "Shaken but not stirred" was hillarious!! And I like Penny - who probably had the most interesting death of all of the Reapers (except George).... J.D. is the perfect family dog.... that drops "zoomers in Clair's award winning nasturtiums" ahaha :) ... Roxy's character is absent, again.... which is fine with me. She wasn't in many of the season 1 episodes, and the show went on just fine without her. Not really fond of her character anyway. She's mean and really negative. Seems like she just hates everybody and never has anything good to say. I liked how they brought Joy's character into Happy Time. This is a solid episode. I thought, well put together, and was just a lot of fun to watch. Hands down, my favorite episode.... "Are we there yet????"... Funny....!!! Think I've watched this one at least 20 times....

I think he became a graveling because he and daisy slept together, Remember she had other "exploits" Rube said. And she commented that she had seen it before,
I think it is so sweet that Mason Loves Daisy so much.....I am a sucker for the cute, pathetic, romantic guys....

From what I have noticed from watching this show is that gravelings are NOT just evil souls or whatever, because, like reapers, they are just doing their jobs (in fact, there is that one episode where George is in the pool, and one graveling begins to go after her, but the other stops him, probably because she isn't actually meant to die). I do not believe that his malice was the root of his future as a graveling, that was the root of him as a graveling killing more than he should have, or the wrong guy. It was even pointed out that Ray was a particularly malicious graveling. And we know that Ray didn't become a graveling because he didn't have a post-it, because neither did that one dude that Ray killed as opposed to the actual reap. The only two logical conclusions one could mae is that either gravelings come from the souls of people that were killed by reapers (which sounds kinda dumb to me), or they are derived from upper management deciding that they become a graveling. Well aside from the fact that Daisy is dead already, attacking someone is not a cause for killing the attacker. I was not aware that Ray was threatening Daisy's life, simply threatening her. THere may be a potential threat that he will kill her or even be significantly violent towards her but that had not happened yet! It may be that if she had waited for him to get violent (physically hurting her) it would have been too late to fight back, but that is not really the point.

If I grab you by the neck and say threatening things to you you are not acting in self defense by killing me. My action is not dangerous to your life. That's how I experienced it.

But if you do get back into the whole story, Daisy IS dead so they killed a mortal human because they did not like him. That is playing judge jury and executioner.

I don't mind this particular defense of yours (you are welcome to think differently or interpret the scene differently from the way I do), but simple violence towards someone does not give the victim the right to kill the attacker. You need to be in threat of your life. I.e. if someone punches me I can't kill them in self defense.

Not to beleager this point :), but if Ray had started squeezing Daisy's throat that would be different. See 4 other replies

Ray was such an totally rude, violent, obnoxious jerk. My impression from this episode was that he wasn't a "real" human- that he WAS a graveling, somehow embodied in human form. That would explain why no post-it... he had no real soul to reap. Maybe this is an ability a few gravelings have. I don't think it is because he was killed by a reaper. But if he was truly a graveling all along, that might explain his fanatic attraction to Daisy... they shared that "thanatos", the connection to and desire for death. See 13 other replies
