The problem with you is that you're so close-minded. Some families are messy and imperfect some are better. Not all families are this or that... there's a spectrum of family life that exists beyond what you see on TV. It's not a question of 50s versus 2010, it's a question of being an adult and realizing that people are different and families are different. Of course some people (and some families) fall short of the mark but the ones who do live good lives are not "repressed." The great tragedy of modern times is the idea that if you live a clean life, it's somehow "repressed" or "unrealistic.' People who think like that are weak-minded and overly influenced by what they see on TV.Again, parents try their best but some provide more stable, affluent, harmonious and more purpose-driven environments for their parents. Yes those people do exist, despite what TV says.The social status of blacks and women again, doesn't need to be valuative. Different cultures have different values. You dont need to be childish and judge everyone for being different or thinking differently than you think. Try to be mature and look at it from a completely objective perspective instead of from a place where you know best. There's plenty wrong with contemporary society, would you like future generations to paint you with a broad (and ignorant) brush?
