I have one friend who is severely dyslexic, and another who is legally blind in one eye, with poor eyesight in the other. They love anime, but only dubs. I myself have extremely poor hearing, but am sometimes just not in the mood to "read" an anime episode. Dubs are not lazy or crappy. Especially well produced dubs. Your "proper" way is just purist diatribe, and that is lazy and crappy ignorance. See 6 other replies

yeh, really it sets in after less than ten minutes for most people. and you don't need to speed read, you just need to avoid tuning out. Dubbing things is terrible, it totally butchers the original material. America is the only country in the world that dubs things, everywhere else just subs it.

Subs = proper way of watching foreign cinema or televison

(years) is not very SOON! and besides speed reading is not all its cracked up to be sure it cuts time which is good if you are pressed for time but ask a speed reader about Details and they are normally stumped ! See 6 other replies

Don't expect to get it right away, even if you can speed read, but with subbed, you need to learn to speed read at about 800 wpm, if not more.

You need to read the lines on the screen in less than a second, without actually moving your eyes to look at the letters. Do it enough(years) and soon you don't even realize theres subtitles See 6 other replies

I personally think dubbing it, while it may be easier for some viewers, takes away from the overall work. These voices are cast with talented voice actors specifically for each part. I have yet to see a quality dub that A. Matches the character, and B. Hasn't completely messed up the translation and flow of the dialogue in the sake of "localizing" it and/or matching the lip movement.

Distributors would sell more copies if they focused on matching the original voices. It's like watching Star Wars, and all of a sudden you have Darth Vader wtih Pee-Wee Herman's voice. See 6 other replies

Never have liked subtitled. I just want to enjoy the stories, without the hassle of reading what is going on. I must have missed it, in the description, or would not have subscribed. Maybe the translated title screen made me think it was in English?

Oh well. I hope they are able to get these translated into English. Wouldn't worry with the title song, just the dialog. I also understand that there are those, who really like the subtitled shows. I am not trying to upset any of them with my statement here.
