From the first moment, it goes wrong. First, does every show have to begin with rescuing a damsel in distress? How many different women can Quinn fall for? Second, men transforming into hawks and dragons? What is this, some fantasy show now? I thought this was science fiction.
I felt bad for the female cop. She was a much more worthy love interest than Melinda.
Still, three things I liked about this episode, and altogether they rescued it:
1. I like the recurring gayish black guy much more than the poorly acted inkeeper "Calhoun" from previous seasons.
2. I liked the "lesson" learned. That power in the service of vanity is evil.
3. I liked the genuine emotion that Rembrandt expressed for Wade. That was sweet.
