This show "Creepy Critters" is very interesting, and somewhat informative.
With regard to "Possums", they are the oldest living Mammal, and were here before the Dinosaurs. They also have a metabolic (temperature) immunity to rabies, and carry few germs, because of their highly developed immune system.
Possums are also a primary predator of poisonous snakes, as they are immune to venoms.
