This really moved me. The obvious emotion, the reality of that past, those experiences, hit hard. Sure, the movie is designed as a tearjerker, but the substance that provokes those emotions is genuine, and worthy of contemplation.I found some of the stories very interesting. Especially the one veteran's explanations of how he coped mentally with the situation, despite how much it obviously impacted him. It is a study in willpower, and the glories of human nature.It was so good I watched the entire thing and commented on it before going to play Skyrim. Now for videogames!

these guys remind me of my Dad..To be free and have it taken away, then given back makes the taste of freedom sweet..WE all need to remember this...
They were the best of America...It is too bad some of our govt. has forgotten what these soldiers tried to give us....and stood for....We need to remind ourselves Freedom is not to be taken for granted it can be taken away....Thanks for your sacrifices...My family has known war, some people take our country and it's freedom's for granted...

America stands behind all of our Veterans. We fight so that our sons may not know our horrors.

I agree that all high school students should be required to view this video - and I concur with the post that these guys are incredibly humble. They weren't cowards and I would say they were much braver than most - what an incredible ordeal to experience and then survive. A prison guard could boast of his own arrogance, but that same person could never be the person these men were ... thank you for posting this documentary, it is an excellent piece of film-making. Thank you ex-POWs of WWII for your courage and sacrifice, and thank you to all our military for answering the call of duty when we go to war. Your service is admirable beyond sufficient recognition and commendation.

It is nice to see that PBS still does good specials aside from their fundraising drives. The subject of this one is amazing. Thanks so much to these men and to ALL the men and women of the armed forces.
