It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that fruits and vegetables are going to be healthier for you than eating at McDonald's or Burger King. It doesn't take a whole lot of effort to make a salad rather than go through the McDonald's drive thru... or even make a simple turkey sandwich on whole grain bread that's ALOT better for you. They try to make it look like going to BK is cheaper than buying produce... when realistically it isn't. Yeah, at face value for a lb of apples it costs more, but will you really eat all of them in a day? I buy bags of onions and eat a little bit each day and mix it up with some tomatoes, green peppers, and baby spinach for lunch. I don't use all the stuff I bought. I've realized that it's actually CHEAPER for me to do that when buying groceries than buy TV dinners or go through some drive thru. And go to organic because it's apparently "healthier" is just a hoax. Nearly of the chemicals that are applied during planting are lost by the time you actually consume it after going through all of the processing. You can buy organic... but its not a much better final product than the regular produce and it's costing you more because more labor is required in producing it.The reason people are fat nowadays isn't because of the food that is being produced (though I will admit that trans fats and high frutose corn syrup are bad and shouldn't be used or at least very little than they are because it's in a lot of stuff), its because people are too lazy to actually cook and create a meal. Everybody wants stuff handed to them rather than doing some physical labor. This is why grocery stores sell pre-cut bread for stuffing around Thanksgiving - because apparently people are too lazy to rip up their own bread... so they'll pay more for it. When it really doesn't take that much time to rip up a loaf of bread.
