im not a practicing satanist or satan worshipper at all, but i think the entire "satanic" movement is quite ridiculous as a specific sort of tradition - being a sort of repudiation or rejection of modern christianity in a mocking way. its a subset of a subset, a derivative of a derivative of a derivative, etc. and on and on.
its not something that has been practiced in an organized way except in modern times, in the past century. its a modern invention, no older than the automobile
worship of natural forces, animal passions, base desires, and so forth - now that is truly ancient and possibly the most ancient religion of all - but its certainly not specified as worship of a "fallen angel" or some kind of devil king, or opponent of god, etc.
in fact it was the later christianity that would paint this kind of nature worship as paganism, a kind of blasphemy against the "one true god" or the god of judaism, the god of the old testament (the torah). 'yahweh' - which is a name that means "i am who i am", is essentially a way of naming the unnameable, and of hiding the deity's true origins. however - the origin of this "one true god" is actually from the larger pantheon of multiple canaanite gods. He was known as El. this is also the basis for many other related terms like "elohim", "israel", and so forth. words which came about when the tribe that have been come to be known as "jews" split from the larger canaanite group from which they originate.
so the "satanists" are mainly people who are more concerned with shocking those who have a modern, puritanical christian mindset, rather than active worship of actual natural forces. essentially they are "posers".
