Okay 1.) they don't want the actors in sketches looking at cameras - they could be looking anywhere else in the world - but not at a camera. 2.) they could be paying these people to hop up and down or stand still - it doesn't matter, either way, it helps the economy. Money is getting into the hands of people, they are turning around and spending that money. Stop trying to think like a greedy business owner - that kinda thinking is what leads to outsourcing and using illegal workers.

Entertaining sketch, but unnecessary.Sure, the cue card may be more mobile than certain models of teleprompter, but generally the teleprompter is mounted onto the cameras so that it becomes less of an issue. "Joke...[applause] [camera 2]". The president of my college, as well as plenty of others, uses a teleprompter system that projects the type onto glass. It appears as if he's looking through the glass at the audience, when really he's reading the script. The audience can't even see the text from their side.I agree with Jt M about the expense. An investment in equipment is less expensive in the long run than the wages for the cue card holders. Isn't that a bit archaic, I mean they waste all that paper (cue cards), they buy those no doubt expensive markers, and they pay three paycheck to the dummies who make and hold them... hew its not like I WANT people to lose their jobs but I think that this operation could be streamlined CONAN!
