For those who remember Astro Boy from their childhood, take another look. Wrapped in its children cartoon trappings are layers upon layers of meaning. A sophisticated exploration of all the "human vs. machine" issues that were explored years later in projects from Blade Runner to BSG are presented in Astro Boy with an extra dollop of pathos. Based on the novels by master story teller Osamu Tezuka, it shouldn't be amazed at how how good these are.
