I've loved this show since childhood. It's not nostalgic affection. The stories created an entire world - sure, the acting was acceptable, the special effects often laughable. But story is key, and LOTL has it. The movie (which I didn't see on purpose) surely missed it. We have to get past the spoiled, snotty inner critic that laughs at the cheap FX. Do you need them to draw you a picture for the story to come through? I consider imaginative, complex storylines a pleasure and surprise, and when the FX are lame, it becomes like a radio story from the 40's. I have enough imagination to fill in any blanks.
