Actually if I remember correctly male confessors weren't inherently evil, they just had so little time between when they could confess that they were deemed too powerful. And that power did tend to make them power hungry... maybe I'd have to go back and read it again but that's how I remember it.

What about this series so far gives you any hope that they will return to the books? Seriously this series is so butchered it's unrecognizable. Right away in the series they threw out the main plot point of the first book: Richard memorizing the book of orden and then burning it before Wizard's First Rule even takes place. In this series, he burns it before he's even read it. The deceptive way he tricked Darken Rahl into opening the wrong box (not stabbing it with the sword of truth, to avoid spoilers I won't say what would really happen if he had stabbed one with the sword.) and in the same move reveals that Richard and Kahlan CAN be together... oh, not to mention that he's the new lord Rahl and all the mord sith would immediately feel that bond to him after Darken Rahl was destroyed. UGH! I can take slight deviation from the books but they made an entirely new story altogether. On the positive I really liked the actor choices for Richard and Kahlan, Zedd's is decent too but Darken Rahl's is terrible.

I was disappointed that the series did not follow along with the books a little more. With the Boxes of Orden, the Mord Sith, and the Boundary that seperated the lands from eachother. But I will say that it has a captivating story line, and I can't wait to see if he brings in the Dream Walker, Palace of the prophets, and maybe even a dragon or two. All hail the new Lord Rahl!!
