The TV show doesn't have to be exactly like the books in order to be any good. Just like superhero cartoons don't have to follow the comic's storyline in order to be a success. However, I do agree that this show's writers are what kept it from being a success. Too many instances of plot induced stupidity. Why don't they use the breath of life here, why don't they confess the evil witch there, when are they going to run out of sisters of the light/dark, and why didn't they show more of the frightening creatures from the underworld besides just banelings? Maybe these characters were simply too powerful, being able to enslave anyone or bring them back to life, and the writers simply didn't have the talent to write out solid plots for them. Then again, they could've put more restraints on their powers. Like someone said before, you aren't supposed to be able to confess wizards in the books.
