This review is obviously a little late but I couldn't help but say this movie was awful.
It follows the standard poorly scripted Hollywood drek that has grown to fashion in the last decade.
If you're an actual fan or even semi-fan of the original Sherlock Holmes novels by Conan Doyle prepare to have your eyeballs raped for the duration of the movie.
The plot is slapped together tenuously and on top of the movie's infinite shortcomings is the fact that Robert Downing is much shorter than Jude Law, and is made to look nothing like the iconic Holmes from the novels and past movies.
If you've never read Sherlock Holmes or seen the past movies then...you'll still likely be disappointed. This movie doesn't even brush the edge of being clever which one would expect from Sherlock Holmes.
If you want to watch real Sherlock Holmes I recommend the TV series with Jeremy Brett.
If you are a fan or know anything about Holmes and must watch this movie then you're going to have to get past the Hollywoodification of this movie and set it aside for the duration of the movie or you'll go mad while you're watching it.
It's a watch once at best.
