*** SPOILER ALERT!!! ***
I've seen episodes in other series that involved precognition, mindreading, the whole ball of wax, but rarely if ever something this well-organized. Most Sliders episodes are the common sort you find all over the place - the kind that could very well have been made up as the writers wrote, with very little forethought. This episode breaks the mold in style.
The spoiler alert is well-deserved, because "Obsession" has a doozy of a twist. In the last few moments, every single thing that happened before is turned on its head, the viewer is caught with the wool over his eyes. A similar effect is achieved at the end of the film "Matchstick Men." I had a slight suspicion the elder Prime Oracle might have had some deterministic motive in attacking Wade with his car, but I was still thrown by the ending. All the pieces fit - the pre-arrest of Remy and Max, the injury of Remy's ankle, and the prediction that Wade would have a powerful stabilizing effect on Derek; but until that final revelation, it all looks like business as usual.
Bravo, Jon Povill.
