A Londoner in the US for over 20 years - my family had a holiday bungalow in Knapton where we spent many happy summers. I love this show and the countryside, and Doc Martin too, but I agree, the accents aren't great. The barman seems to come close but it's over the top and doesn't sound genuine to me either. Tony Slattery's seems to be improving slightly week by week though. I wonder if the West Country accents in Doc Martin sound strained to the real locals? Overall, I love it. it has the flavor of All Creatures Great and Small - anyone else noticed this? Have any PBS stations picked them up yet? Surely it could find a wider audience given the chance?
