Very tired of the Anti-American sentiment on these boards, but I gave up on this show after 2 mins, lame and annoying, just because it's British and the people talk with a funny accent doesn't make this comedy goal or genius! Decided to pop in Scrubs it's funny and silly, not trying to be something it;s not!
Usually when Hulu suggests something to me while I'm watching another show it hits pretty far from target (and mostly I get annoyed because of how intrusive those suggestions are), but I will gladly admit that this show was a pleasant surprise. I've already been a fan of a few of these cast members (Tamsin Greig, Steven Mangan, Olivia Colman, Patterson Joseph and I loved John Oliver's cameo) so I was quite surprised that I hadn't heard of this show before. To put it simply -- this show is one of the most original shows that have been released lately. I love that it essentially ignores the hospital setting when structuring the plot. There are far too many medical dramas released over the years so hearing and seeing the cast frantically trying to save the lives of the patients would have turned me off of this show completely. Instead, Green Wings focuses on the *other* side of doctors and medical staff -- the side that is cynical, tired and just wants to get some shut-eye.If you weren't already a fan of British comedies I'm not entirely sure that this would be the best one to start with. The humor can be a bit bizzarre and quite subtle (though not usually in this case) so it would definitely take some getting used to; and I feel as if this show is more similar to shows like Garth Marenghi's Darkplace or, to an even lesser extent, The Mighty Boosh. Sure, those shows are absolutely ridiculous in execution, but if you took out all of the wacky and surrealist elements you'd end up with comedy quite similar to Green Wings.I highly recommend it!
It's just a serious of one gag after the other, with incredibly grating editing and annoying music for an (much longer than it needs to be) hour. It's too bad, because there are actually quite a few funny moments.
I came to this show after hearing Campus was a copy of it, firstly Campus took everything that was good about this show and improved upon it. I find this show's humor to slow and drawn out, the complete opposite of Britain's typical fast wit, a terrible precursor to an excellent show. If your looking for classic crude European humor look to Misfits and Campus.
Welp all I can say is this reminds me too much of the bumbling medical group I am doomed to have handle my so called "healthcare" and there is nothing funny about it!!
