While I agree with your sentiment, and there is certainly truth in the character development aspects of the relationship, I absolutely detest Beatrice. It's not that she's "unlikeable"--- it's that she's a spoiled brat. I don't mind the difficult people of life--- it's the spoiled ones who are hateful and mean-spirited and purposefully make every one else's life harder merely because they themselves have never had the corrective experience of being slapped in the face and told "No". And the excuse of her being mentally ill just makes it worse. And I think, honestly, that Peter looks more like a beaten rug in their relationship than anything else. It is the character of Gloria, I believe, that signifies the great patience and love necessary to endure the unendurable.

I have noticed as I have watched further into the series that there is less of an intrusion of commercial into a scene, to the point where by (I think it was episode 6) the commercial placement seems to be in the "correct" place.

I just watched ep 3 (its a charming show with great characters), and the breaks were all less than a second off for me, sometimes within a quarter of a second. It was no problem. I suspect that different hardware and perhaps different versions of Flash player cause timing differences that vary from case to case. It's probably something that will work itself out in time. Meanwhile, try viewing at a different resolution (hi def or standard def), and try using the buffer differently (pause or not), and see if you can affect your results. It's probably worth reporting your problem to hulu so they have an idea how many people are affected.

I second WIlliam H. I am fine with the commercials, but where they place them in this show is 3-5 seconds before a scene change...often cutting important images. If the director intended for a scene to end when it is done conveying it's information, it would set the cut where it were.I wonder at the reason for the odd timing...it has been consistent across the two-three episodes I have viewed so far, so I assume it is intentional rather than a lack of skill in managing the cutting?
