House on Haunted Hill

A great many horror films came out of the 60's, and this was a classic. You could not ask for a better actor in this film than Vincent Price. I remember going to a Drive-In and seeing this movie and another classic "13 Ghosts". When they remade H on H H it paled in comparison.

There are certain things that the film industry avoids because they’re viewed as cliché, but this film is the original that did it well. You’ve got a large wealthy home, strangers brought together with the promise of money, and a subtly created by the simple fact that they didn’t have digital special effects software. Throughout the entire film you are never certain if there really are any ghosts or not. There are strange sounds, accidents, and more than a few surprising sights, but just enough to make you wonder, nothing definitive. This film definitely subscribes to Hitchcock’s “less is more” philosophy, and it works.

I liked Vincent Price's character (Fredrick Loren). He was perfect for the part. I do wish there was more horror so the people in the house would have a scare of a lifetime for $10,000. In a way this movie reminded me of the movie and game CLUE because its a group of people that are left in a house together and blame each other for things that happen.

What more needs to be said about a horror flick ! lol...love the black and white old horror flicks. Yes, the acting was sometimes over the top and different than what passes for acting nowadays but certain actors fit the horror genre so well. Vincent Price was a master horror actor. Frankenstein, Wolfman and Dracula b/w's are classics. In the horror school, there's something appealing to me about b/w films.

It's dark and creepy and I love that actress that plays Vincent Price's wife. She was quite a beautiful lady.

It was actually... surprisingly good.. The acting in these older movies can be a little over-dramatic sometimes but these actors/actresses were actually quite good! First time watching Vincent Price, too (:
