Paula Martin is at once praised and damned in this episode for her ability and passion as a flyer. And we can't smirk. Even today, few would condemn a man for an overriding, all-consuming passion for flying. Yet a woman with any passion outside of home and hearth is not quite natural, it is implied. And hubby Don Bennett got over her death rather quickly. At the beginning, he seemed to love her, but once he knew she was dead, he went from grief to hatred in about five minutes. Deirdre better be careful: if she develops an interest that takes her out of the house, Don might kick her to the curb.
