A mineral with living properties, seeks to combine with fragments of itself shattered when it collided with earth as a meteor, leaves all the menace of a creature, unfathomed, apparently trying to protect itself as it gathers its remnants, until Bruce Cabot, barely understanding its complexity, tries to do it in with Dynamite and save the day.
These shows were done every two weeks on live camera, transcribed by kinescope, and rerun only as an afterthought by a precogniscient ABC which discovered them in vaults and elected not to destroy them.
Little more than radio, so filled with holes you could drive a Dune Roller through them, and overacted so badly by the female lead Cabot, no Shakespearean himself had to turn away from those histrionics....but it just brings tears to your eyes to remember you and Mom and Dad, alive with wonder at these fledgeling offerings.
You have to remember, you only had a test pattern for most ot the day, some news, some wrestling, a puppet show Howdy Dowdy, and a guy named Bill Boyd who was smart enough to snag a little $50M (in 1951 dollars!) merchandizer called Hopalong Cassidy, to get the flavor of these gems, warts and all.
Thanks HULU.
