Hulu - National Geographic Specials: Diamonds of War: Africa's Blood Diamond

I watched this awhile ago. Definitely an insight. The feature "Blood Diamond" is not that far off. But if one is to purchase a diamond it's up to them to ask the jeweler if the stone is "conflict free" If you are serious and have chosen a diamond ask to see the Certificate of Origin. Canadian Diamonds are laser engraved and come with a Certificate of Origin. If the jeweler you are visiting does not want to take the time or does not have that information on hand consider going somewhere else.

This documentary was very well filmed, it was so interesting when they went undercover to see what really goes behind the scenes of diamond trading. It is amazing to see hundreds of diamonds on one table. Very well done, I learned a lot in the last hour.

try the new lab made diamonds made here in US. they are basically the same just with difeerent composite that make them have a color range.The white ones are now even possible,even the belgium diamond experts cant distinguish them.I rather have them than think its a blood diamond.

People in the business of selling precious stones could care less about where or how they are obtained as long as the buyers get a good price. It's an old story told over and over throughout human history; whenever there is something of value, the rich will do whatever it takes to get it. Even if obtaining something of value results in the suffering and deaths of millions, the rich and greedy will pay with currency for that which was produced in blood.
The list of things to ban:
1. Monsanto's GMOs.
2. The entire diamond trade.
3. Products from endangered species.
Now it's your turn to add to the list.

This video seemed to chronicle the lives of the workers and the process of smuggling the diamonds. Really interesting. It's definitely a good view after watching the movie Blood Diamond.
