This 1986 film stars Melanie Griffith who was 29 or 30 at the time. It's a perfect lesson on what can happen when a straight guy decides to submit to a kooky woman and let her do what ever she wants because he is lonely. It's a totally believable story because characters like this really exist and adventures like this happen more frequently than many of us realize. Melanie really is the Wild Thing. I have known a couple of women like her. It's fun to watch her completely dominate little ole Jeff Daniels. Hilarious the pickles she gets him into until she gets herself into the Big Pickle. Lots of bloody violence which I always can do without, but American films are just full of it so what can you do? It is a well-scripted and believable film.
Who's Zoomin' Who? Great job and great song choices by "Stop Making Sense" director Jonathan Demme. Holds up surprisingly well with the exception of the David Byrne song at the open, which dates it.
Audrey was an emotionally unstable nutjob that I never would have gotten involved with. Charlie was a naive man in a broken down part of his life. Would of been a really tough role to play convincingly, but he did it very well. Ray seemed to be crazy on the surface, but was really an intelligent low-life with anger and jealousy issues. I could see how he and Audrey would be attracted to each other before. After watching about half of the movie I could see why Audrey and Charlie would be attracted to each other. The characters really meshed together very well in this movie and they all played their parts excepetionally well. Great movie, I am glad that I decided to watch it beyond the nude scene.
Really? REALLY? There are so many good reviews of this movie, I'm in shock. I think it sucks. Melanie Griffith annoys!Brutes to the MAX. Highly NOT recommended.
I love this movie, everything about it! Fantastic acting, writing, direction, story twists... It's my favorite of Melanie's next to Working Girl. I love how it turns from comedy to drama to thriller, and does it so well! Jonathan Demme is a genius.
