I was watching that bit again tonight, and I guess it should be obvious that the scene IS staged for the credits - they are obviously waiting for Bob to arrive and get on the train before they get on. Anybody waiting for a train will move closer to the edge of the platform when the train approaches - so they can get on right away. The two women are waiting by the wall, basically as far awai from the train as they can get. Probably to stay out of the picture because Bob is supposed to be the central focus of that scene. You know, that has ALWAYS bothered me too, ever since the show first aired. I always assumed it was because it was staged for the credits, but then the guy he is talking to when they get off the train - I always assumed he was just someone who recognized Bob and struck up an impromptu conversation, and they kept that candid moment for the credits. It kind of bugs me that in the beginning of the show Bob runs down the platform and steps in front of those two women who are patiently waiting for the train and just boards in front of them. It's rude to step in front of someone who has been waiting longer than you.
