I love the concept of the show, but the way the story is told is a bit amateurish. The writers always resolve subplots too quickly, the story never gets a chance to ripen. For example, when the guy gets the text message, it established a nice mystery for the viewers: Who sent it? How did they know what was going to happen? Why did they warn this guy? But then the answer is revealed in the very same episode! Argh!
Also, the writers don't do a very good job of establishing people's motivations. The characters might *say* why they did something, but it falls flat because we haven't connected with them or come to understand their point of view.
I think the writers could learn from Lost in both of these regards. Lost lets the mysteries unfold over time (maybe lingering too long in some cases, but never revealing too early). And, they use flashbacks to *show* us the characters' backgrounds and why they are the way they are.
