Absolutely. There's nothing wrong with buying a purebred puppy from a responsible breeder. Responsible breeders work to encourage good genetics, minimize bad genetics, and promote their breeds' best qualities. They encourage responsible ownership and many are a resource of excellent information for the new owners throughout the dogs' lives. A good, responsible breeder makes sure that the puppies they sell are of the highest quality that they can provide. We have to remember that dogs aren't just pets; they're working animals that have jobs to do and are bred to do them.   See 2 other replies

Exactly...I condone both adopting a rescue/dog from a pound and getting a puppy from a breeder. I have done both and contrary to what others have said, purebred dogs, in my experience, have worked out better for my life--less emotional and physical problems because you get them straight from their parents and a great breeder who cares. That is of course if you do your homework and check out the breeders. I am actually really getting fed up with all the breeder bashing out there. If more people supported reputable dog breeders then there wouldn't be any puppy mills!!!!! Not to mention, a reputable breeder interviews you more than any rescue agency I've ever adopted from---so it requires someone to really consider the life of the dog and that he or she isn't just a toy you can throw away. Stop breeder bashing please! They are not the enemies, puppy mills and abusive people are!! Also, breeders lose money almost every time they have a litter--they do it out of love for their dogs---not for money. So purebred breeder dogs need homes too.   See 2 other replies
