I watched this series almost straight through and cried so much through the last episode. I hated it at first, how could it all end like that?It bothered me for almost a week, during which time I analyzed the program as a whole and came back to watch the ending again.Here is my take and hopes about what happened.Cleo told Vetti early on that there were things of wonder that he had seen in the universe that Vetti couldn't imagine. Cleo grew so much during the last few episodes, learning what it meant to love and to give of oneself totally. His dream was to reestablish the royal line. I honestly think that he and Michelle(Racine) did that in their one night together. He had also been the one to fight against all that Vetti had set up. Vetti didn't want help the people, but to give himself more power. Vetti didn't know what it was that he wanted, but was sure that power would somehow bring it to him. That was what Cleo meant, Vetti had never had love, he had been alone from the moment he cried out from the closet and was given as a foundling to his abuser. Vetti didn't have a chance to be what Cleo became, so Cleo had to give it to him. Cleo was the older and more honorable of the two. He understood finally that Vetti needed to understand love and to act for the rest of his life to study and protect the people to know what love was. Cleo gave him love, to complete him. It was the only way to show him how powerful love could be and how a life should not be lived only in the search for empty power.
