It makes perfect sense that Gentetsu took the kids because the Ninja Dropouts didn't want any witnesses! If they were to discover that the children were still alive, they would have killed them! He did the only thing he could in that kind of sitiuation!

this episode is so broken, nothing makes sense. why did gentetsu bring kids with him instead of leaving them in their respective villages? im sure that that would have been easier than making an orphanage. naruto also totally sucked during this episode too.
