As a kid I remember seeing Gale Russell on television as "Annie Oakley". At that time she was battling alcoholism. This is the first motion picture I've seen of her. She was beautiful in an Ida Lupino kinda way. Too bad she had a tragic end.
I think that this is one of John Wayne's best. There is a a nuance he is lacking in most of his films. I've watched it several times and never tire of the unique characters and the underlying humor.The score it pretty good too.
It's nice...stuck here at a boring job, to just have an old movie. Before life got so complex and we started to make our movies into pornos and rock videos. I like new movies too, dong get me wrong, but sometimes its nice to go back. I like this one...old style hollywood westerns are great! I love John Wayne!!!!
While I do not think this is the best movie John Wayne has ever been in, I must admit that it is on the top of the list. I'm hoping that Hulu will get more of his movies as well as some other old classics that must not be forgotten!
