I was fifteen when this show captured my imagination. Thought I might see it in a different perspective now, but it's still good stuff. Where are the other seasons, Hulu?

Having been a Big Valley fan for 45 years I find it strange I've never seen the original and frankly I'm a little shocked. Who was that Barkley brother I don't recognize? And Miss Audra Barkley flashing herself and sitting on the bed like that, trying to seduce Heath! That was a serious gun fight too! 30 dead maybe? That's a lot of killings for even these old westerns. I suppose the topic of bastard children is what kept this episode from airing in my conservative neighborhood. Many TV shows I never got to see because they were of hot topics. The TV stations just didn't want to upset their uptight viewers with things like birth control, children born out of wed lock, abortion, homosexuality, divorce, etc etc. They were taboo subjects. It's good to see that in some ways society has grown up enough to where they can deal with these issues.

We had only one television set in our home. Star Trek came on the same time as The Big Valley. My brother was a huge Star Trek fan and I felt the same about Big Valley. My fathers way of handling the situation was to say whom ever made it home first from school got their choice. My brother and I raced home from the bus stop every day. I made the track team every year in high school because of this routine, I believe. My brother used his lawn mowing money to buy his own television as he finally gave up :) I am very happy Hulu is passing the series on to the next generation. It brings back very fond memories for me.
