Your hate for fraternity is nothing more than jealousy. No one forces women to act the way the do. Women behave this way because people enjoy it, and they like the attention. As far as hazing, the term is too loose. Coddled kids with no common sense are what cause these things to happen. I've seen it for going on a decade. The sad truth is, at some point in our lives someone will SCREW UP, there should be repercussions. When I was a child that meant being grounded and or spanked. When I was in a fraternity that mean I wasn't allowed to party. In life it means a speeding ticked or worse. And Dean, sexual assault occurs less often per capita than in the "GDI" world. (GDI means god damned individual). The truth is, stupid people have been killing themselves since the dawn of time, and in the future, they will continue to do so, regardless of being Greek, or GDI.

Yeah, those out there who were part of a fraternity will hate that word. All you are doing is buying your friends. All they are a bunch of losers who use their membership to get laid. I went to several fraternity parties and saw how they treated women, if a cop had been there all of them would have been arrested for sexual assault and or rape.
I always thought they were a bunch of thugs who used their privledge to get laid.

This was a great film about a young man that had died due to alcohol poisoning. The fraternity of which I am a part of also suffered a similar loss back in 2004 when a young woman by the name of Samantha Spady had been moved to a room to "sleep it off" and died due to alcohol poisoning. Her body was found while a brother was giving his parents a tour. The chapter was dischartered, and the members were also punished. Samantha's parents, along with our national headquarters, formed the Sam Spady Foundation in order to promote safer drinking and being able to recognize the signs of alcohol. Every chapter in our fraternity hosts an annual Sam SPADY Event where we provide information to students about the dangers of alcohol and how to recognize alcohol poisoning. Had an event been put on at Boulder's campus, maybe it would make a difference. Most college students are aware of the dangers of alcohol but choose to ignore them. The problem is that too many people do not know the signs of alcohol poisoning, such as the brothers of Chi Psi who just simply laid Gordie down to "sleep it off". In our program we have a activity where we randomly hand out colored cards with a spade on them and read through the events of the day that Sam died and ask those who have the color corresponding to the people in each part to stand up. By the end of the activity, especially as the presenter, it is amazing to see that atleast 50 people are standing. Those 50 people represent all the people that had seen Sam while she was drinking, and not a single one knew that she was dying. I'm not saying that Gordie's death wasn't the chapter's fault. They should have been able to realize that he needed medical attention as soon as they went to move him. I am simply saying that their negligence is not completely their fault. College students need to be educated.To get to my final point. I felt as though the film brought forth almost a scare tactic feeling towards fraternities in general. It seemed to cast the shadow that all fraternities drink and just rush guys for numbers, all the while not giving a care about the people within the chapter. The attorney really didn't help either by simply stating that it was "all the fraternity's fault." and many of his other comments that seemed to be more anti-Greek than solving the issue with alcohol related deaths on campuses. It was a great film, and I also recommend watching "Death By Alcohol: The Sam Spady Story". My only con against the movie was the "witch hunt" feeling I got.

What a moving documentary. Thank you for making such an informative piece. Viewing this film should be a prerequisite before entering freshman year.
