This show had a lot of different dramas in it. Grace Gardner, Esperanza, Phil, Eddie and Mick, and then the Nyfdorf lynching. This is what is wrong with the justice system in America. They give a "pretense" of having a real trial, the prosecutor, the judge, and the defense attourney get together long before the hearing and discuss, "How bad do we want to screw this guy? What if you let me trade this case for that one. You can have probation for this guy and he will get cut loose and then we will send this guy away for as long as we can get away with. Then the hearing happens and they already know the outcome. The defense and prosecution are supposed to be enemies, they are supposed to disclose information, not hold the trial before they go to court. The 72 hour rule is what is used to hold someone for "suspicion" and not suspicion of anything. They can hold you for 72 hours over nothing, that is the law. The public defenders are mostly a joke, they don't fight cases, they try to (jailhouse lawyer terminology) play "Monte Hall" (let's make a deal) with everything you do or say, they will run to the prosecutor and ask for a deal.
