There is a second book called "Heidi's Children" She stayed with the grandfather and later married Peter. They lived with Peter's grandmother and had twins, a girl and boy. The governess married the Uncle/father. In the second book it's discovered that the governess is related to Heidi through her mother. Fun book - love the happy ever after. See 1 other reply

I own this movie and love it! I would watch this movie without the kids :P the tempo throughout is perfect.

I really liked this version of Heidi; great acting and heartfelt dialogue; spectacular scenery.

I can't count the times I have seen this Masterpiece. I saw it as a kid, and I have watched it with my kids. It's a true love story without sex. Where can you find that today. I will watch it over and over again every Sunday. It takes me back when life was hard but simple. You could even forget to lock your doors at night, because everyone knew everyone. A time when life was slow, and Xmas took a full year.

Or at least read the book! I remember reading this book, and seeing the movie, when I was a young girl, and being very much effected by it. In fact, I would say exposure to this story, is probably responsible for my lifelong love of nature, and a desire to live in a natural environment, which has stayed with me, to this day... Never will forget how going back to live with her Grandpa in the Alps, "cured" her of her physical ailments.I have totally believed that is completely possible, ever since! Although I'm not sure if this movie is the same version I saw, so many years ago...
