What was her 'behind the scenes' mission, and don't doubt for a moment she didn't have one as she didn't just magically fall onto the same path as the A-Team by coincidence. Her possible involvement with the overthrow of the president or (...just to complicate the analysis of the mystery woman's role in this further) with her possible involvement in the prevention of the overthrow of president of that country...are the only two possible goals/missions that my gut suggests through my reasoning. I must point out, having said all the previous, that I don't believe her to be a spy or anything like that (though anything is possible). Overall its just a working theory and more or less to answer the original question asked in this discussion, 'who is she really'? She searches out ways to track him down. She comes across the news that Doctor Richter, a military psychologist working for the VA (who no doubts has record on his patients), is evaluating Col. Stoddard. She goes to the Doctor claiming to need psychiatric help all the while she is searching for / finding a way to get into his files (Even Doctor Richter mentions later that he "had doubts about her motives"). That's her foot-in-the-door. She succeeds and gets into Richter's home, now whether or not she knew he was going to be kidnapped is another matter. Maybe she did know, maybe she didn't, either way she takes too long looking through the files and is caught, essentially red-handed. Enter the A-Team. They rescue her and she sees her ticket to follow after the Doctor and Stoddard to South America. She goes with them and proceeds to change her "story" every chance she gets so as to get herself out of the those challenging predicaments the A-Team is famous for getting into. She's not after the A-Team though, she even goes so far as to assist them in their escape from the cages. She goes with Stoddard, her ticket to a further her own mission perhaps. But what is her mission? She goes with Stoddard, who is on his own personal mission to overthrow the current president of the country, yet with the A-Team's escape Stoddard's party is attacked. Notice how she mysteriously vanishes after she assists the A-Team round everyone up and her reappearance act back at the ocean home that Face was at the time, currently scamming. Interesting how she knew of that location is it not? Yes, while the question of who she really is, is indeed a valid one, I would much rather have known what her purpose was in the episode, I have no doubts such an explanation to the purpose of her accompanying the A Team would lead to the explanation of her identity.(To be continued)   See 4 other replies

Sadly we'll never really know. All we can really deduce is that on the spectrum of great cons, and while our boy Face is rather high up on that list, this mystery woman is leagues ahead of him. She's far beyond being a fair foil for poor Face. In fact she seems to be a bit of a mix of Face and Murdock. Near infinite capacity for information, like our boy Murdock, and a convincing manner that could charm / convince anyone about anything. Having said that, she's no where near Hannibal's capacity. He saw through her from their first encounter, and while he might not have let on exactly whether it was initially just a hunch or more of verbal/non-verb. observation about her deceit, he was the first to catch on. !!! WARNING, MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD !!!The question we should be asking is what was her purpose in South America? She is a master, but I feel that she didn't lie on every detail in the episode. She did give a half truth which was that she was looking through Richter's belongings when the rogue military men snatched her up. The Richter's daughter bit was a red herring, after all Hannibal pointed that out when the team entered the village (as he observed, she couldn't give directions to the freeway from her "fathers" home, etc.). So she was snooping into the good Doctor's files, but for what? She knew a lot about Col. Stoddard and the situation in South America. Doctors, especially government and military have high clearance. Stoddard's men were after the files, which provides the explanation that Doctor Richter had information about the situations in South America involving the pending disciplinary probation/dishonorable discharge of Col. Stoddard (He was evaluating him). Let's back track a bit and break this down (my way of proving the long way that she is a good con and thus none of the identities that she provided in the episode were at all related to her true identity), she does a little digging and finds her mark, this Col.
